Alvin Sykes

The is first CD effort of Mr. Sykes and it has been described as "The Real Deal". His exciting and unique brand of drumming and singing wow's audiences everywhere. He is known as a showman of the highest order, a drummers' drummer, performing his 20 minute drum solo to standing ovations and awe inspired fellow musicians.

Originally from Houston, Texas, Alvin started playing drums at age 5 and was performing on the road by age 14 with the likes of Percy Mayfield, Cab Calloway, Charles Brown, Albert King, Gatemouth Brown, BB King & John Lee Hooker. In the last 40 + years, he has literally backed up a who's who of musical artists in every genre of music, including, to name only a few, jazz great Miles Davis, crooner Frank Sinatra, soul queen Aretha Franklin, Motown legends The supremes, gospel-soul original Ray Charles, rock legends Jimmy Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac and Elton John among many, many others. He came from a very musical family which includes several famous cousins: Charles Brown, Al Green, Cab Calloway and Johnny 'Guitar' Watson.

Alvin Sykes has a distinctive vocal style and his high falsetto is amazing. Although he is better known as a drummer/vocalist, Sykes has recently stepped away from the drums into the spotlight and on this CD proves that he can take the heat and wow the audience with his intense vocals.
